Marlborough Operating After Suspension Dismissed

The client, a teenage driver, had his driver’s license suspended for 90 days after getting a speeding ticket. He completed a required driver re-training course. Prior to going to the Registry of Motor Vehicles to reinstate his license (part of which process is the payment of a $500.00 reinstatement fee) he needed to get to a friend’s house to get a ride to work so he drove. Less than a mile from his house he was stopped by a police officer for going through a red light. He was charged with both the red light violation as well as Operating After Suspension. At a Clerk-Magistrate hearing to decide whether a criminal complaint should be issued I was able to highlight the positives in the client’s life and convince the Clerk-Magistrate to dismiss the charges.
